Clean Slate

With the weather being so hot, white is a great option to cool down; either that or a lot of shade. HA! I pulled this cute shift dress out and layered it with a crop top to give the dress some shape, otherwise it would have just looked like a plain mens shirt. The great thing about white is your working with a blank canvas, so anything can happen.

Shift dresses are great because they literally hang from the shoulders, so it suits all body types and sizes. Anyone can wear them!

Local “Tour”ing

This “tourist” look was inspired by a big trip Ive got coming up. However I don’t want to jinx anything so until my butt is on that airplane I wont share just yet…

Staying local or traveling, pair of jeans and a simple tee, you can never go wrong. I wore this fun and bright gypsy bag from IbBan.com and grabbed these Pink and Pepper slip-on’s to wear around SanClemente harbor. However Ive got to say they are rather uncomfortable, not really a good purchase.

 

The day started out sunny and warm but 20minutes after arriving the clouds rolled in and the sky became rather eeire for the rest of the day. Weird but kinda cool to watch it happen.

Road Less Traveled – Part 3

These are the final shots taken from our drive home from Lake Havasu, Arizona. It was a fun trip for us both and also a great learning experience. My husband since then has begun to master his new camera; he uses a Sony A77. He’s also becoming a great director while shooting and I’m learning how to move my body to better showcase the clothes. If I do say so myself, we are becoming a great team. However the quality time is what is most rewarding.

Now; since the weather has begun to cool down just a bit, and fall is upon us, I will end this last summer shoot and transfer over to fall garments. I hope you are enjoying my blog thus far and can sign up for all new blog posts via email…next month we plan on visiting Miami…YEAH!

Love Connection

My sweet-sweet husband surprised me on our weekly date night with 2 new pieces. I had been eyeing 3.1 Philip Lim 31 minute bag, and was not shy about expressing my desire to own it. For the up coming seasons I knew this bag, with its crisp white leather would be such a great statement piece. It can be styled with everything!  It is such a clean color for all seasons, and a perfect size for all my belongings.

Now, I cannot forget to mention how excited I was recently to read an article about 3.1 Philip Lim . He will be collaborating with Target and his collection hits stores September 15th. Cant wait!

My second surprise was this adorable romper from findersKEEPERS. I usually have a difficult time wearing rompers and jumpers, because they aren’t designed with enough loose fabric around the waist. Luckily this little number has an added peplum to the waistline, so I felt extremely comfortable and not afraid to indulge in my dinner bread or dessert. HA! The next time I wear this, I would love to pair it with a huge chunky belt….ohhh the possibilities.

ShopBop has some great sales right now on all their summer items, and with this heat wave, summer clothes are most definitely a must. Thanks Babe… and the sunset was a bonus to a very special date night.

Wind Blown – Part 2

Here is the second shoot my husband and I did during our drive to Lake Havasu, Arizona. My favorite and most memorable part driving through Palm Springs are the windmills. I’ve always appreciated the many, many turbines and their GRAND size. When I styled these pieces together, I wasn’t sure where I would photograph them, but I feel we found the perfect stop.

I thought this could be a fun place to capture a modern-sexy-country side to me, usually hidden away.

Coffee Break

I’ve noticed the last few photos I have taken have had a sun spot or light, if you will, around my face. I’m wondering if its my camera or possibly something more? We will see if it continues. HA!

I wore this VERY comfortable tee dress for an iced latte and some sun. My chain purse brought it just the right amount of sparkle and surprise it needed! The watch was “collateral” or an added bonus from my girlfriend for borrowing some shoes…Thanks B!

Tuxedo Tuesday

Today I was headed to get my fix of WhatABettys trunk show.

I decided to wear these W118 by Walter Baker tuxedo skinny pants. They felt great, and I knew I would keep these bad boys for a long time. However they could look much better, especially in the derrière. A few days prior I made a visit to see my talented tailor.

I highly suggest finding a good tailor and make friends. “Voila”they were made for me!

 

I loved my hair this day, even though it really was all I could do. Thanks ZaZa for the braid. If your having a dirty hair day, braids are your friends!

DIY Adornment

The summer wouldn’t be complete without making a trip to Lake Havasu. A few weeks ago we enjoyed an “adult” weekend with some friends. I had almost forgotten what it was like to have no responsibilities. However I don’t feel too guilty… I know my babies enjoyed quality time with their Abuela.

The water was warm, the boat ran perfectly, the sunsets were mesmerizing and many more memories were made.

One of my favorite swimsuits that I just can’t seem to part with is my Susan Elizabeth 2 piece. It holds sentimental value to me from my design days at FIDM. While attending school I worked backstage for Mercedes Benz Fashion week. To bring new life and spruce it up a tad bit, I decided to remove the string around the neck and bottoms, and add a chain. It was rather simple, easy and gave it some warmth. Lately gold is my favorite obsession!

I purchased a simple chain, sewed a loop through the chain and used a metal key ring (same gold color of course) to connect the two sides. Place the bathing suit top over your head, as you would a necklace and simply tie the lower strings around your back. Next time I will photograph a step by step DIY.

 

Summer is almost over… if school hasn’t started for your kids just yet, enjoy these last few weeks and BE SAFE!!

Red Sunsets

Happy Friday!

This summer has really been a great one to my family and I. We have enjoyed many walks, sunsets and quality time together. This was one of those times.

I wore this fun and sexy dress on one of our evening walks, it is so soft. Because the dress is black and of course will go with anything, I paired it with a bright converse. Next time I will try it with a heel, or maybe a biker boot could be cute…..heeeey!

    

 I just love the longer days during the spring and summer months. It keeps me actively outside and I find myself more “in the moment”.
