Clean Slate

Clean Slate

With the weather being so hot, white is a great option to cool down; either that or a lot of shade. HA! I pulled this cute shift dress out and layered it with a crop top to give the dress some shape, otherwise it would have just looked like a plain mens shirt. The great thing about white is your working with a blank canvas, so anything can happen.

Shift dresses are great because they literally hang from the shoulders, so it suits all body types and sizes. Anyone can wear them!

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a very special Mothers Day; it really is the hardest job in the world, or you took the time to celebrate the important women in your life. My family and I enjoyed a beautiful morning in Temecula with friends and later Mexican food with family and RIO 2. Cute movie! Now back to work HA!….Well the heat has kicked it up a notch once again so try to stay cool this week or head to the pool if possible.

Today’s look is one of my favorites because of the fun print and beautiful colors, it really would look good on ALL skin types.

I enjoy a good print when I see one and this Daniel Rainn blouse from Nordstroms Rack definitely caught my eye. It is also 60% off, even more beautiful huh? I’m not one that is usually drawn to animal prints but this python was the perfect shade of pink. I spruced it up with gold heels and gold clutch, however I can think of a hundred other ways to style for spring, summer or fall.

Met Gala 2014

This years Met Gala is celebrating Charles James and his career. The dress code invite asked for “white tie and decorations” so it was fun to see how celebrities took the dressed down approach and made it their own. The Met Ball is an annual Costume Institute Gala, which celebrates the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s. The new exhibit Charles James: Beyond Fashion.

Here is everything you need to know about Charles James A to Z

(below are my favorite looks from this years most anticipated party)

In honor of Tailored Tantrums turning 1 I decided to step it up a notch. I’m trying something new with photo titles so bear with me while I get the hang of it. I also linked my LOOKBOOK to the appropriate posts to make searching easier. Lastly I started a list of my favorite Shops: Shops Galore and will keep adding in time. I do have one more minor add but haven’t figured out how to do it just yet… I am not computer savvy to say the least, but Im trying! I hope you like the subtle changes.

This afternoon my husband and I got away for just a bit to enjoy some lunch and a movie. It was a beautiful sunny day; perfect for a date.

1 Year Anniversary

1 year ago today I launched Tailored Tantrums as a fun outlet. I wanted a place I could go to be creative, discuss fashion, remain current and  be updated on all industry news. But most of all be inspired. It hasn’t been easy; I have had many moments of uncertainty but the exciting moments out weigh them all, because I have been able to share my styling thoughts and collaborations with you. I really enjoyed the first year and hope you have enjoyed reading.

Thank YOU!

Happy Birthday

Bralette

With the California weather warming up again I felt like wearing one of my favorite trends, a retro bralette. I find them romantic on so many levels, from the dainty lace to the shameless cuts. Bralettes are the perfect cross between a bra and a crop top. Unfortunately they really work best on smaller busts but I have worn the same color bra underneath to give myself a bit more support since they are wireless and padless. Just go up a size so it isn’t to tight.

I prefer wearing mine with muscle tees to bring a touch of feminine, but not forgetting of course to style with large bohemian jewelry. After all I am a California girl, hippie at heart.

How would you style your bralette?

20 Stages of Blogging by The Daily Tay

Right when you feel maybe things aren’t panning out the way you thought, the universe has a way of giving you a boost and reminding you; you’re not the only one. Recently I have felt running a blog is a lot more difficult than expected. Outfit posts take a lot of hours to shoot, edit, and link. Someone once told me its quality not quantity, so I took it literally. However I am now realizing the quantity is just as important. Running a household with 2 small children and trying to stay current and connected can be overwhelming. I only have so many hours in a day and yesterday was one of those overwhelming days. Until last night I stumbled across another blog The Daily Tay who talked about the 20 stages of blogging. I wanted to share the funny but oh so true bullet points she wrote in hopes of releasing that energy out into the universe and hopefully someone else can benefit and know they are NOT the only one.

The idea!
It all starts with one simple thought: I think I want to start a blog. Most will sit on this idea for a long time debating over which action to take next. Or if you’re like me you sit on it for about two minutes and then start a blog on a complete whim one day choosing a very generic name you plan to change later…

( I was the person who took months letting the idea marinate)

This is really happening.
You’ve chosen your platform, gotten your url, and even picked a name. The only thing that awaits is the first post… The hardest of them all, if you ask me.

The excitement of publishing the first post.

You did it! Now what? …. You write another! And Another, and another! Content is flowing from your finger tips faster than you can type.

This is so fun.
Why didn’t you start this years ago you wonder as you write one brilliant post after the other? Your photos look great, your graphics are amazing, this is your calling!

I’m going to take over the world!
Later day job, you’ve found a much better hobby you’re going to make your full-time career. Move over big bloggers, you’re the next big thing.

But wait, where is everyone?
Followers? Readers? Hello? Where are you guys? Good content is happening right now so why is no one reading?

I have to do what to get people to stop by?
Ugh.

Overwhelmed, maybe this is too much.
Link-ups. Comments. Guest Posts. Twitter. Instagram. Facebook. Bloglovin. Google +. Community. Politics of blogging.

One step at a time…
You can do this. You realize blogging is a marathon not a race.

Traffic starts to build.
Your enthusiasm returns once again!

This is great. Time to read all of the blogs about blogs.
Can’t. Get. Enough. Blog. Insight.

But wait, who am I again?
The sneaky voice of comparison sneaks in. In an attempt to read all of the big blogs to get ideas on how they got so big you start to question your own voice.

Doubt.
This sucks.

Blog friends to the rescue.
Others feels this way too? Yay! Maybe all hope isn’t lost after all.

Growth.
Your stats start to climb. Other bloggers start to comment.

Then suddenly stagnant.
But why? Why did it slow down all of a sudden?

Growth.

Yay it’s back up!

Stagnant again.
But why?

Overwhelmed.

Always.

Fun again.
Can’t stop. Wont’s stop.

(and repeat stages 3-20 day after day after day…)

Today I am now setting some new goals for myself because I do NOT want to quit. I am enjoying the journey of slips, holding on and doubt, even if I am only writing to myself HAHAHA!

So “Thank You” The Daily Tay you have inspired me and you don’t even know it!
