This is my story
I entered a contest called #Thisismystory through lookbook.nu and in collaboration with Love Nail Tree. I had to submit a photo along with a small story. The story needed to be inspiring and to leave someone with one bit of wisdom, impacting dialogue, or change-bringing story. I chose to tell a very honest story, and how my journey in the arts woke up and began to start again.
The meaning behind the photos was me statuesque and strong, remembering who I am, wanting to be more, all while on this journey of life of following my dreams. It was hard to figure out how to say all that in a photo, however I enjoyed the challenge and happy to step outside my usual outfit posts and try something new.
Special thanks to Simplistic Elegance for hair and makeup and my Cuban for being the photographer for the day.
This Is My Story
I found myself sitting on the couch; defeated. Two crying babies, dirty dishes in the sink, and toys blanketing the floor. Dinner had not been cooked, I had not yet showered and I was drowning, struggling to stay afloat. At that very moment I realized I wanted more, I needed more, or we would all suffer.
I looked around as if to find the answer somewhere near me, something I could touch and feel. Something I could buy perhaps?
I tried to block out the noise, even for a moment, trying to listen to my inner voice. Focus on what my heart wanted, what my mind needed, and what my soul craved…. INSPIRATION!
I slowly stood up off the couch, walked down the hall, opened the garage door and climbed up into the attic. I rummaged through boxes and pulled out art books, fashion books, and pattern books from design school 10 years prior. A portfolio that had never seen an interview, markers still moist, unused crisp white paper waiting to be drawn upon, and sketch after pattern after garment after the next filled with dust.
Where to begin? The first step was finding balance, becoming organized amongst the chaos. If I was going to teach my children to follow their dreams, to be proud of their talents, to laugh at themselves, I needed to live by example. I became the example.
I pushed myself into undiscovered territory. I began to laugh at myself. I began to do better, do more, be uncomfortable, be vulnerable and welcome the unknown. I began to follow my dreams.
Today I am an aspiring wardrobe stylist using a blog to showcase my inspirations through fashion and photography. I hope to use my platform as a positive way to excite, motivate and BE inspired.
Snow White
I hope everyone had a safe and special New Years… Mine was a bit brutal. We planned a snow filled trip to Park City, Utah with family. However what we got was a horrid flu. It was passed around from child to adult and back around again. You can say it will definitely be an unforgettable end to 2013. With most of our time spend in bed, or nursing each other back to health, I was only able to accomplish 2 sets of photos. Extremely disappointing but I guess not all was lost?…HA!
We are all back home now and into our routines. My hope is 2014 will be a healthy year!
Battling cabin fever and two little ones, we resorted to taking many drives. Even though skiing wasn’t an option, we still wanted to see the beauty that Park City offered. It really was a “white” Christmas.

Our 2 favorite “P’s”
Before our recent trip to San Francisco… that post will be coming soon, my family and I enjoyed a nice Sunday in the park and found an adorable pizza joint next door. The menu was extremely health conscious and the drinks were definitely outside of the box. They even gave the kids clay to entertain themselves for a bit, but I think my husband enjoyed it much more than they did.
It was yet another warm day in California during October so I chose a pair of fun harem pants I found at Forever21. God I love Forever21! They remind me of MC Hammer pants but in a much less diaper way. HA! I also found some fun leopard wedge tennis shoes by VANS. I have never been into the wedge phase, however when I saw these, I thought I would make an exception. I tied it all together with some ghetto gold and I was good to go, however after seeing the photos, I think I could have taken it up a notch with many more bracelets etc… next time.
Bummer!

Orange County Fair
Its Friday and the Orange County Fair is here!
Every year we enjoy rides, animals, music, food and games, and with every year the kids get older; creating different memories. If you want to try something new… they are offering a Sloppy Joe sandwich in between a crispy cream donut with cheese and jalapeno. WHAAAAT???
However you plan on spending your weekend make this last summer month a fun filled one.
If you can’t find the right jean shorts… make them yourself. Cut a few inches below the pockets and make sure they are the right length. Continue to cut if needed. After they have been washed they will continue to fray and shorten over time, so you want to make sure they are respectable. HA!
